Practice history

There has been a dental practice in this building for at least 50 years. The first dentist here was Mr Alan Dixon whom a few of our patients still remember. Archive photo of Nick and Laura HopkinsonA young man with an almost full head of hair called Nick Hopkinson joined as an associate dentist in 1980 fresh from a lecturing post at Leeds Dental Institute. Nick’s wife Jill was responsible for a lot of the ‘behind the scenes’ work whilst raising their young daughters Ruth and Laura.

In the years that followed the small team gained the support of many happy patients and cared for the teeth of generations of families.

Fast forward twenty years to 2000 and Nick and Jill proudly watched Laura following in her father’s footsteps as she graduated in Dentistry. Laura joined the practice in 2004 and took over the running of the business in 2008. Nick continued to work as a dentist until eventually retiring in 2010.

Laura continues to uphold the principles and unique ethos which have kept so many people happy and healthy over the years and this remains very much a family business.
