Laura HopkinsonLaura Hopkinson – Dentist and practice owner. GDC number 77871

Laura took over the practice from her father Nick in 2008 having worked here since 2004. She qualified from Newcastle University in 2000 being one of only a handful to be awarded Honours - the highest possible grade. Laura was then selected for higher postgraduate training at Newcastle Dental Hospital leading to her achieving membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2003, thus joining a highly distinguished group of the profession.

Following this Laura worked in a specialist clinic for anxious and phobic patients and, in recognition of her skills and knowledge was awarded the Diploma in Sedation along with valuable skills in helping nervous patients overcome their fears.

Laura continues her commitment to professional development and achieved the Certificate in Restorative Dentistry from the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute in 2005. She has recently completed a year long course taught by Dr Michael Wise in London.

Out of work Laura's three sons, Liam, Dominic and Rowan, keep her very busy. She is also a keen amateur musician and plays the violin in various orchestras and chamber groups when she has time. Laura lives in Boston Spa with her husband Michael and their sons. Return to top

Jaime HobmanJaime Hobman – Dentist. GDC number 77842

Jaime was chosen to join our team in 2013. She graduated with Laura from Newcastle in the same small handful of dentists to receive a qualification with honours. This led to her being selected for higher training at the Leeds Dental Institute before commencing private practice in Leeds.

Her commitment to continuing education resulted in Jaime commencing studies for the Certificate in Clinical Education from the University of Leeds and in recognition of this, and her clinical skills, she has been appointed as a trainer and mentor of newly qualified dentists.

Of equal importance, she is kind, caring and trustworthy and fits into the team wonderfully with her cheerful outlook and sense of humour.

In her role as mum to Harry and Felix, Jaime employs her skills as costume maker and cake decorator extraordinaire and indulges in her love of all things fun. She also enjoys tennis and going to the gym.Return to top

Michael RileyMichael Riley – Orthodontist. GDC number 79424

Laura’s husband Michael undertook his undergraduate training at Newcastle Dental School qualifying in 2001. On qualifying he underwent further training in Maxillofacial Surgery and Paediatric Dentistry. His postgraduate orthodontic training was at the University Dental Hospital of Manchester where he achieved his specialist qualifications including an MPhil in 2007. Following this he undertook consultant training in Middlesbrough before leaving the hospital service to work in specialist practice. Michael also works at Orthokind specialist orthodontic practice in York.

In his spare time Michael enjoys walking in the countryside with his family and wine tasting. Return to top

Gillian AbramGillian Abram – Manager

Gillian is our welcoming practice manager and responsible for the smooth running of the practice. She has worked here since 2006 and has formed a strong team with a positive ethos based around excellence in patient care.
Her cheerful 'can-do' attitude keeps everybody happy and makes a visit to the dentist a pleasant experience.

She is married to Mark and has four sons Thomas, Jonathan, Ash and Daniel.

Jane HoltJane Holt – Hygienist. GDC number 11043

Jane has been working with us for over 12 years and has inspired incredible loyalty amongst our patients. She is on the British Association of Dental Therapists Roll of Distinction and has a very high profile in the profession. As well as working with us Jane is a tutor hygienist at Leeds Dental Institute and also lectures to dental professionals all over the country. Recently she has won recognition for this work in the form of the Dental Teacher of the Year Award.

Most importantly of all she is friendly and warm and really wants to help people get a healthy mouth and a great smile.

Jane lives in Collingham with her children Finlay and Sarah and is interested in running, cycling and golf, often to raise money for cancer research and the Smile Train. Return to top

Emma CareyEmma Carey – Hygienist and Hypnotherapist. GDC number 239584

Emma's interest in dentistry was sparked when she started treating people for dental anxiety and phobia in her role as a clinical hypnotherapist. She then made the commitment to enrol on the Dental Hygiene and Therapy degree program at Leeds Dental Institute where she was meticulously trained by Jane Holt, now her colleague at Hopkinson Dental.

The combination of attention to detail and a warm, relaxing chair side manner have made Emma extremely popular among her patients who all benefit from her prevention focussed approach.

To switch off Emma loves spending time with her children, Indigo and Camden who she lives with in Harrogate. She has an interest in all things craft orientated particularly 'up cycling' furniture with decoupage.Return to top

                                                

Helen DaltonHelen Dalton – Receptionist

Being in charge of Front of House means Helen ensures our patients receive a warm welcome and have a pleasant visit. Her kind and gentle manner, reassures even the most nervous patient and she will bend over backwards to get you an appointment at your convenience.

After seven years in the job Helen can answer almost any question you might have about the practice and will spend the time to explain everything properly and put you at ease.

In her spare time Helen enjoys the cinema, keep fit and cooking for her family, husband Rodney and children Claudia and Henry.Return to top

Jenny BroomheadJenny Broomhead – Dental Nurse. GDC number 153066

Jenny has been a dental nurse for eight years, she enjoys keeping up with the ever-changing world of dentistry and is delighted to be part of a team where she can put her knowledge into practice.
Together with Sophie she is responsible for helping both the patient and the clinician through all procedures and for maintaining the highest levels of safety and cleanliness.

Jenny is Yorkshire born and bred and loves exploring the landscape on hiking trips and spending time with family and friends.Return to top

Sophie Rani-DinSophie Rani-Din – Dental Nurse. GDC number 156979

Sophie has been with us for ten years and has the benefit of many years experience in dentistry. She is without doubt a 'people person' and loves being part of a caring and hard-working team where our patients are put first. Having raised three daughters Sophie and her husband, who live in Leeds, are the now the proud owners of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel whole keeps them occupied outside of work.
